It is official...we are having a healthy, handsome baby boy!
My morning began by drinking A LOT of water and a frappucino to wake the baby up. We gathered up our paperwork and headed north. The bumps in the highway and city roads were a bit painful, but I made it to Imaging for Women without any accidents! Derek's mom and my parents met us to join in on the excitement! We waited for about 20 minutes before they called Derek and I back. The ultrasound tech was wonderful! She explained everything to us, showed us many different angles and views of our baby and showed us the special anatomy. The picture was quite clear....we are definitely having a boy!
Then, the ultrasound tech brought our parents in and showed them the baby. He was sleepy and curled up in a ball by the time they got to see him, but he was a movin' and a groovin' earlier. Our parents saw the anatomy and instantly knew it was a boy.
Dr. Malley checked over all of our films from the ultrasound and came in to talk with us. He told me that I do have a small cyst on my right ovary, but is nothing to worry about and should go away on its own. He also said that the baby looked perfect! He saw no defects, the heart and kidneys looked great, and the measurements they took were in agreement with my previous due date (minus one day). He said September 30th was right on!
The ultrasound tech printed a picture of the baby's profile and burned a cd with 6 pictures and 3 short clips of the baby moving. We printed the pictures at Wal-Mart and burned copies of the cd for both sets of grandparents!
Next, we headed to do some baby shopping at Babies R Us and Target. We picked out several fall outfits on clearance and some sleep and play onesies. It was an absolute blast and made everything seem very real! I can't explain what an amazing feeling it was to see our little baby boy and hear that he is healthy! All in all, today was perfect!
